Jac-inks Sketch Challenge #6

Hi again.

Two posts in one day whoa... Recently I purchased the gorgeous Medallion Stamp, I have been wanting this for a while now and thought to myself that I must just have it. It's a little bit bigger in real life than what I was expecting but I LOVE IT. So I have teamed up my new favourite stamp with this weeks Jac-Inks Challenge #6 and love how it turned out. I had a few attempts with the middle bit but in the end I like how it turned out. But I'll let you be the judge.

Supplies:

Stamps: Medallion, Bliss (SAB)

Card Stock: Rich Razzelberry, Basic Black, Whisper White

Accessories: 1 3/4" Punch, Basic Jewels, Pinking Shears

Mojo Monday Week 186

Hi I just love this weeks Mojo Monday sketch, it is so versatile. For a while now I have wanted to do a plain Black and White/Vanilla card, I tried it on this one but found that I needed another colour to break it up so I used Crumb Cake (Kraft). I am determined to only use the 2 colours, so maybe I might give the sketch another go later in the week. I hope you enjoy.

Supplies

Stamps: Dreams du Jour

Card: Very Vanilla, Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Love Letter DSP

Inks: Black Stazon, Crumb Cake

Accessories: Crumb Cake Grosgrain Ribbon, Half Pearl, Hemp Twine, 1" Circle Punch

jac-inks Challenge #3

Hello.
I have made two cards this week for Jac-Inks fortnightly challenge, this week it was an inspiration challenge, and I am sure you will agree that it is a beautiful picture. These cards are a little different than what I usually create but I needed to have a few kids cards in my stash. I hope you like them.
Inspiration

Close up - Card 1

I created the sand using River Rock Refill Ink and mixed it with Dazzling Diamonds glitter, I think it worked quite well and it gave me the effect that I was looking for.

Card 1
Supplies Card 1:
Stamps: Fifth Ave Floral, Well Scripted
Inks: Rose Red, Blushing Bride, Taken with Teal
Card Stock: Rose Red, Whisper White, Rose Red
Accessories: Owl Punch, Hemp Twine, River Rock Refill Ink, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter
With the second card after I made it I realised that the colours didn't quite match the inspiration but I thought I would share as I love the concept of a little gift in our cards. This card comes with a bookmark. I love the little owls and the way that you can dress them up, I have dressed these little ones as hula girls, love the coconut bra :-)

A Few Challenge Creations

Hi Ladies,

Hope you are enjoying your weekend, I have spent my morning trying to find my missing creativeness, so what better way to start than with a few challenges.
During the week I spied a few challenges that I wanted to give a try the first one was from Jac-incs. I love what these girls create each fortnight, and the sketch was certainly a challenge for me, I have never done anything with ovals before but am happy with how my card turned out. I don't have an oval template so I printed out an oval shape from word, cut it out and traced around my template onto DSP then cut out. I found that my cutting wasn't to crash hot so I decided to distress the edges so no one could see my awful cutting skills. The same went for the circles, I am yet to purchase the Scissor Circle (on my wish list) so my template this time was a plastic cup. I used Artistic Etchings, Well Scripted stamp sets, Newsprint DSP, Riding Hood Red and Vanilla Card Stock, along with Riding Hood Red and Stazon Black inks, and an Antique Brad, all supplies are from Stampin Up.

The next challenges that I wanted to give a go was a sketch challenge from Inkspirations Challenges and a new site I found for a colour challenge Stamp away with me ,I teamed the two challenges together and came up with a cute card for my Mum for Mothers Day. I used Awash with Flowers, Well Scripted stamp sets, Taken with Teal, Perfect Plum, Kraft and Whisper White card stock, Taken with Teal, Perfect Plum and Crumb Cake inks and the super cute brads from the Silver Hodgepodge tin, all products are from Stampin Up.
I hope you enjoy my cards. Have a great weekend.
Take care
Kylie.

Hello

Hi Ladies.
It feels like ages since my last post and life in the Maher household has been quite hectic to say the least. I have been keeping very busy in the last six months, I ran in my first marathon and competed in my first Triathlon, had my 30th birthday party which was a fantastic night. All of my friends and family packed into the Exchange Hotel here in Townsville for a night of eating, dancing and a few beverages.
Mum & I at my 30th

My invitation

Christmas which I got my very own RED Kenwood Mix Master, the maiden voyage was White Chocolate Friands which were to die for.

Nigella eat your heart out, the new Kenwood...

And hubby has had surgery on his wrist and we have had to travel to Ipswich in Queensland a couple of times for the Operations. Thankfully it is healing quite well and the doctor is very happy with the result, the injury that he sustained was quite severe therefore causing the ligament in his wrist to snap off the bone and if the surgery wasn't a success his wrist would have been fused together which is the worst outcome of all considering that his work requires him to have full function of this hand. But thankfully this was not the case.

A little wile ago I was lucky enough to be asked to present a Workshop Wow at our Cairns Regional Conference and apart of my thank-you from Stampin Up I was able to pick one stamp set out of the IBC for FREE. I have had my eye on Awash with Flowers for some time but didn't want to part with my $$ so I knew exactly what set I would choose with my thank-you voucher. I have only just put it together and used it for the first time to make a good friend of mine a birthday card. And I have also used for the first time the Masking Technique, this technique has been around since I started stamping but have always felt nervous when attempting it and never have, but to be honest it is so simple and effective. I am submitting this in Jac-Inks very first challenge, congratulations ladies on your new venture.

So that is what I have been up to, I hope this year I have time to get creative again.

Take care all
Love Kylie

HELP.......

Hello lovely ladies.
Well it has been quite a while since I last blogged. Like everything and everyone life really does take over and before you know it 2 months have passed us by with a blink of an eye. The Maher household has been quite busy of late, we have had great friends of ours visit from Canberra, hubby has had his 30th birthday bash and amongst all that both of us have been working out of town quite a bit. Hubby has been in Home Hill and I have been about 30km from Greenvale at the Lynd Junction, we are building 21km of road (I am an Project Administrator for Watpac) so don't personally get on the end of the shovel but do all of there paperwork, and boy is there some paperwork sometimes I think it would be easier to get on the end of the shovel or be the stop go girl...

So apart from working non stop and hubby's birthday over I now have time to concentrate on events that I have planned for the next half of the year and one of those events is my 30th Grrrrrrrr. I am slowly accepting that I am not going to be in my 20's for much longer but gosh it's hard. So why not go out with a bang hey, and nothing better than a PARTY. I know I'm a little early (30 in November) but I actually got a little excited yesterday and started on an invitation for myself. I really liked how it turned out but it is missing something off the front and this is where I would like you guys to come in with your creativeness. Can you please help me, I am thinking a sparkly 30 down the bottom corner or party... not quite sure. Please tell me what you think!

Anyway, lovely ladies have to get back to my jobs, going out with my bestie that I haven't seen for about 2 months later today.

Take care and hope to be back here soon.

Kylie.

Downtime Cards

Hi all.

In my downtime a few weeks ago I made a few cards, I have already posted a couple and this is the last of them that I thought you would like to see. The first card I got my inspiration from our monthly newsletter that us demonstrators receive from Stampin' Up!. I get so excited when this comes, because it is filled with so much useful information, and knew that I had to give this ago. What I have done is mix my picture stamps with sayings and punched them out with my 1" circle punch, and teamed it up with matching inks. I just love this idea.
The next card is quite simple to do and is quite effective. I have stamped my Crazy for Cupcakes stamp onto Water Colour C/S in Staz on Black ink and coloured in with my markers and Aqua Painter. for the outer of the card I have stuck to clean simple straight lines with no distressing at all, I think that the Water Colour section of the card is enough texture.
I would love to hear what you think.

Take care and happy stamping

Kylie.

Clean and Simple Stamping

Hi again.

WOW 3 in one day... told you I have a little bit to share. The next set of cards I have made are for the Clean and Simple Stamping challenge site. This was a little bit difficult to do for me, as I very rarely use Whisper White card stock as my base. But once I got started I HAD to keep going. I just love the simplicity of a sketch like this. Why don't you give it a go, I guarantee that you will be pleasantly surprised with the outcome. I hope you enjoy...

Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes, Circle Circus, Trendy Trees
Accessories: 1 1/4 Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch
Inks: Baja Breeze, Cameo Coral, Real Red, Sahara Sand

Stamping for Fun

Hi there lovelies.

Well I have just tidied up my dining room table from a stamping session I had last Sunday (not this Sunday just gone but last Sunday :-) Little bit slack hey, hubby has been away so I was able to keep all my goodies out on display.... anyway, I found a few cards that I have made over this week and though I would share, very rarely do I stamp/create just for me. My friend Nicole bought over a SAB set that I absolutely loved, but never got and I had a little play. I adore the bird in a cage and am hoping like crazy SU bring out a similar set in the future. For these 2 cards I have gone with a clean and simple design/layout. I have been admiring the blog Clean & Simple Stamping, and love the simplicity of there designs. I hope you enjoy.

Be back in just a moment with some more of my creations.

Kylie.

Inkspirations Sketch Challenge #20….

Hi all.
This weekend has been a little crazy in the Maher household. Hubby and I are baby sitting our 3 Nephews and Niece, 2, 4 & 7. They have been fantastic but boy does it take it out of you, so to all of you mothers out there I take my hat off to you. It seriously is a full time job in it's own. Before the little ones came I was able to do this weeks Inkspirations Sketch from Makeesha Byl, I love the sketch challenges.... I hope you like it, I have used a the Good Egg stamp set from Stampin' Up! it's great that I get to use this set again, and I have also made a little matching Easter egg basket.

Tip: if you are not very good at cutting out the oval egg like me :-) grab your sanding block and give the edges a quick sand, this takes off the sharp cutting edges and rounds the whole thing off.
Stamps: A Good Egg
Inks: Elegant Eggplant, Almost Amethyst, Perfect Plum
Accessories: 2 way glue pen, Dazzling Diamonds, Foam Dots, Glue Dots, Daubers, Tea Party Dsp
